Water Quality

Volunteer Lake Assessment Program

The Volunteer Lake Assessment Program (VLAP), is a citizen-based lake sampling program assisting the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (NHDES) in evaluating lake quality throughout New Hampshire, using an EPA-approved Quality Assurance Project Plan. The FPIA participates in VLAP, collecting water samples from Flints Pond, having them analyzed, and recording water transparency.

Water quality data from VLAP is used by NHDES biologists to determine the health of lakes throughout the state and by town officials to monitor activities within the watershed.
